NEWSLETTER NOVEMBER 2023: Why Are 66% of Businesses Planning to Boost Their IT Budget
A recent Spiceworks.com article delves into the 2024 State of IT, highlighting intriguing insights. Despite 84% of respondents expressing concern about a potential recession and implementing cost-cutting measures, 66% planned to boost their IT budgets for 2024.
Their approach involves risk mitigation alongside investments in both established and emerging technologies. To manage risks, 74% adjusted their tech purchasing behaviors, such as delaying certain acquisitions, consolidating various technologies, and reassessing existing contracts; not to mention, reducing their future commercial real estate spend by accelerating the move to remote and hybrid work models. The report also noted that, 43% slowed down on hiring or reduced their workforce.
So, we found most interesting that, amid economic uncertainties, smart business owners acknowledge the significant impact modern business technology has on efficiency, automation, customer satisfaction, and employee empowerment. Referenced in the report is a project by Aberdeen Research consistently illustrating the benefits of modernizing IT; with 45% of study respondents noting improved ROI from those new technology investments.
The study emphasizes that it's not merely traditional technology being integrated; there's a substantial inclination towards adopting emerging technologies. Within the next two years, a majority of organizations intend to double their utilization of technologies like edge computing, serverless computing, AI, and the continued acceleration of remote or hybrid work models.

BLUE CONNECT BRIDGE - WEBLINK
Traditional on-premises phone systems were designed for an era where office-centric work and voice communication prevailed. In today's evolving business landscape, the conventional routine of working solely from an office has transformed into a hybrid model encompassing office-based, remote, or entirely remote work setups.
Has the way your office works changed over the last three years with more employees working from home? Spiceworks.com recently reported [with adoption of hybrid or remote models], 32% of companies have difficulty migrating between technologies, vendors or platforms and 30% of teams are being asked to do more with less.
If this is you, then ask yourself these questions:
Is your current NEC phone system equipped to effectively support this dynamic hybrid work approach?
Are you seeking alternatives that cater to remote, mobile, and hybrid workers without hefty capital investments?
Do you rely on separate collaboration tools to keep your team connected today?
If your response is YES to any of these queries, NEC's UNIVERGE BLUE CONNECT BRIDGE offers the ideal solution.
WHAT IS UNIVERGE BLUE CONNECT BRIDGE?
UNIVERGE BLUE CONNECT BRIDGE expands upon your existing NEC phone system investment by integrating cloud-based voice capabilities through desktop and mobile applications, ensuring a unified communication experience. It facilitates seamless collaboration for you and your team, fostering connectivity whether in the office, at home, or anywhere in between, complete with integrated video conferencing, chat, and file sharing/backup functionalities.
